Baotou Steel successfully produced 1180 MPa cold-rolled dual-phase steel

On August 9, Baotou Steel Co., LTD. 's 1180 mpa cold rolled double-phase steel finished coil was successfully rolled off the line in its rare earth steel cold rolled sheet mill, and the product performance indicators and surface quality met the standard requirements. This marks that Baotou Steel has the ability to mass produce such products, adding an important "weight" to further seize the high-end automotive steel market.

It is reported that the successful trial production of 1180 mpa cold-rolled ultra-high strength duplex steel broke through the product outline strength limit design capability of Baotou Steel cold-rolled sheet mill for the first time, and successfully reached a new level in the high-end field, which is a milestone for the adjustment of cold-rolled product varieties of Baotou Steel.

By the end of 2023, the plant has developed and produced 980 mpa high-strength products, achieving full coverage of the cold-rolled sheet product outline strength level. On this basis, the development of 1180 mpa ultra high strength duplex steel is progressing smoothly. Over the past few months, taking advantage of the favorable conditions of "on-site research and development and efficient collaboration", the rare earth steel cold rolled sheet mill, technical center and manufacturing department have worked together to break the technical difficulties such as weld quality, rolling mill overload and stable operation of annealing furnace, and completed the work of product design, production organization, product technical key points confirmation and raw material guarantee. The effective control of product structure properties, dimensional accuracy and surface quality is realized, which lays a solid foundation for the trial production of new products.
