Spiral submerged arc welded steel pipe Pile with ASTM A252

ASTM A252 is the standard specification for welded and seamless steel pipe piles. It covers the nominal wall thickness of cylinder shape steel pipe, rectangular pipe is not included. These round pipes are used for piling purposes, playing as a permanent role of load carrying and bearing the pressure.

A252 steel pipe pile has three grades

Based on the tensile strength and the yield strength the ASTM A252 is classified into three categories/grades:
a. ASTM A252 Grade 1
b. ASTM A252 Grade 2
c. ASTM A252 Grade 3

The most common pipe piling material is ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe, this pipe grade could be made in seamless or welded, which in most situations are requested in welded type because of the large diameters pipe pile required. A252 Grade 3 has better strength which tensile in 455 Mpa (66,000 psi), and yield strength 310 Mpa (45,000 psi).

Spiral submerged arc welded steel pipe is a kind of metal pipe with spiral seam welded by submerged arc welding technology.

SSAW pipe is made of hot rolled coiled steel by automatic submerged arc weld under normal atmospheric temperature. All the pipes are produced according to API Spec 5L, GB/T9711.1, GB/T9711.2, ASTM A252-89 standard. These pipes mainly used in petroleum and natural gas industry to transport flammable and non-flammable liquid and steel construction.
